Our Morning Runs
The Highlander training schedule is a balanced program that works well for recreational runners and competitors from 5K to marathon distance. Our runs are meant to alternate between hard (Tues, Thurs, Sat/Sun) and easy (Mon, Wed, Fri) intensity to maintain stamina, strength, endurance and speed. All Highlander runs meet at the Winchester (MA, USA) Town Common parking lot just west of the Winchester Center commuter rail station.

Tuesday 5:45 AM Track Intervals at McCall Middle School Track, or Woburn Tempo Run
Intervals on the Mystic Valley Parkway (snow)
Intervals on the Wedgemere Loop (snow)
Wednesday 5:45 AM Easy Mystic Lakes Loop (6.2 miles)
Thursday 5:45 AM

Hill Intervals: usually between Washington St. and Highland Ave (4.4 miles)

Sometimes a couple of treks up Horn Pond Mountain.

Friday 5:45 AM Social Run on our Horn Pond Loop - No runner left behind. (4.5 miles)
Saturday 7:00 AM *

Tempo run: Our famous Hospital/Horn Pond Loop!

or: In warm weather, sometimes a Fells trail loop.

or: In prep for marathons, sometimes a long run: 10-20 miles.

Sunday 7:00 AM * Sometimes a long run, especially during Boston Marathon training season:
10-20 miles, usually Mass Ave or Spot Pond loops with shorter options for all runners.

* - Note that on occasion the weekend runs will start earlier than 7:00. Please join our Google Group to be sure you know the times.
